THINGS TO DO IN SIARGAO

Siargao is much more than just a surfing destination, it is also an inviting tropical island for families with kids. There are many smaller Islands around Siargao waiting to be visited and each of them have something different to offer, explore the many deserted white sand beaches, go snorkeling, see colorful Clown-fish and try to find one of the beautiful starfish for a picture. Chill out alone in the many beautiful hidden lagoons while watching stingless jellyfish and starfish, swim in the unique Magpupungko Pool which is only visible at low tide and explore stunning caves. If you love the night, you will be happy to know that beside a great nightlife with countless bars, you can also see the Milky Way with your bare eyes, on a clear night just one hour after sunset. Surfing Siargao

SURFING

Siargao is the Philippines surfing mecca and has many quality and world class surfing breaks on offer. The famous Cloud 9, Quicksilver, Tuason’s Point, Stimpy’s, Rock Island, Daku Reef, Cemetery, G1 and many more that can be found by exploring the islands coast. The north of the island offers some uncrowded waves such as Pacificos and Burgos. Most surfing breaks are accessible by land and a short boat ride can be easily organised with the locals when wanting to surf the outer reefs and islands.

A gigantic inland lagoon that is only accessible via a large cavern. The cavern, in turn, is only accessible during low tide. Enter into this quiet realm that could only be described as a fairy-tale land—tree-covered rocky islets, mysterious caves, odd rock formations, and the sound of birds and fruit bats echoing.

The stillness gives a tranquil vibe that makes boating in here so relaxing.

Fishing Siargao

The ideal season for fishing is March to May, when the big fish like the Marlin and Sailfish are most active. There are fish, that can be caught all year round, such as the Yellowfin Tuna, Mackerel, and Mahi-Mahi to name a few. You might want to catch the International Game Fishing Tournament that takes place in Siargao in April. A good thing to keep in mind is to check out the fish markets – this will give you a pretty good idea as to what most people have been catching recently.
